Our effort in atmospheres encompasses dynamics, structure, and chemistry. It is common for research to include Earth , so there is much overlap between planetary science and efforts in the immediately adjacent Linde+Robinson laboratory (ESE option), especially the work of Tapio Schneider and Paul Wennberg. In the planetary science group, Andy Ingersoll studies dynamics (atmospheric and oceanic circulation, ices), Yuk Yung focuses on photochemistry, radiative transfer and related issues, Heather Knutson studies the composition, structure, and evolution of exoplanet atmospheres, and Katherine de Kleer studies thin exospheres and atmospheres of bodies in the outer solar system.
